Title III English Language Acquisition

The Title III Program is designed to provide service to English Learners (EL) to develop their skills in Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing in the English language.  The ELs are identified through a process by which parents complete a Language Usage Survey (LUS) at the initial time of registration.  Based on the responses to this survey, students are assessed for English language proficiency or are identified as English fluent, requiring no assessment.  Students who are assessed and obtain a specific score are identified as EL and are provided services through instruction specific for English language proficiency.  ELs are assessed on an annual basis and continue to receive services until such time, they exit the EL status. From the time they exit, these students are monitored for 2 years and if they continue to show fluency, they are no longer monitored.
